*** SHOCKING!!!*** Dave visits injured hen, Spirit, inside the pen with CIFA and police, finding horrific conditions.
Dave Bilinski, Universal Ostrich Farm Co-owner/Farmer is given only 5 minutes by CFIA to visit Spirit, an ostrich previously injured by helicopters and drones frightening the animals from above the pen.
The CFIA agents are hidden behind white DuPont Tyvek coveralls, masks, and fashion sunglasses, The female agent is known to the farm. The male CFIA agent claimed he was a vet.
Spirit was unrecognizable to Dave, lying next to a manure pile and severely dehydrated.
CFIA agents estimated the hen with “38.5°C” temperature, but admitted this was done visually, not actually taking the hen’s temperature. CFIA refused to allow the caregivers to hydrate or care for Spirit, suggesting instead that they bring a vet from Vancouver and continue discussions via email rather than in person with owners Karen and Dave.
Spirit died in CFIA care while prohibiting treatment by her beloved caregivers. The bureaucrats offered only “emails” and a vet 500 km away.
Dave asked a police officer to hold his phone and record the event. The original footage was provided from Dave to the Save Our Ostriches team. Thank you, Dave, for capturing this interaction.
