May 14, 2025 – Scott Anderson, Conservative MP (Vernon—Lake Country—Monashee), visited the ostrich farm following the federal court decision upholding CFIA’s order to cull the ostriches. During the visit, he met the owners of the farm, Karen and Dave, and Katie, the owner’s daughter and the public face of the ostrich farm. He also met with Constable Britton, Detachment Commander of Nakusp, who was in Edgewood on an unrelated matter and stopped by to say hello.
Anderson’s team is currently working on a plan to save the ostriches while satisfying the requirements set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). He will be formally requesting that the CFIA delay the cull while we explore the possibility of saving the ostriches for further immunology research.
