Call to Action – Letter to Minister

October 31, 2025 – Urgent call to action from Universal Ostrich Farms

Background:
On September 9, 2025, David Bilinski and Karen Espersen, co-owners of Universal Ostrich Farms Inc., submitted a “Request for Ministerial Reconsideration” to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food of Canada. Even though this is specifically a Ministerial Request (requiring a response from the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food, Honourable Heath MacDonald), the only response has been from CFIA on Sep 22, 2025. With the imminent Supreme Court decision expected on Nov 6, 2025, an urgent call to action requests the public to write and call the offices of the Minister of Agriculture to request the Minister to respond to UOF’s “Request for Ministerial Reconsideration.”

Dear Honourable Heath MacDonald,

Please respond to the Request for Ministerial Reconsideration letter submitted by Universal Ostrich Farms, dated September 9, 2025. A reply was required within fifteen (15) days, by September 26, 2025, but no reply has been received from you, the Minister of Agriculture, as of October 31, 2025.

Canadians require you to fulfill your Minister’s duty under Section 48 of the Health of Animals Act¹, and to reply to the Request for Ministerial Reconsideration.

To ensure the Supreme Court of Canada has the correct record before judgment is rendered on November 6, 2025, a response from your office to Universal Ostrich Farm is critical by November 4, 2025.
