Feb 26, 2025 Update From the Farm

Feb 26, 2025 – CFIA arrived unannounced with two agents and three RCMP officers in two cruisers. They said they were inspecting the biosecurity area and disposal pile, which was fine because nothing had changed.

However, they spent most of the time looking at our fences and the empty fenced in area without ostriches. It seemed obvious to us that they were mapping out our property, but for what purpose?

We were also told that after 57 days under quarantine and 43 days with healthy animals, we’ll need a daily permit to move around our property with our personal feed chore truck. This seems unreasonable, as we already follow strict quarantine measures, and the truck is sanitized daily.
